In The Eye of March
January wasn't always the first month of the year. For century's March was the first month of the Roman calendar named after Mars, until the Gregorian calendar was put in place in 1752. Though March has been noted to carry some dark history, it's the lighter side that's most pleasant to observe.
In March we have the first day of spring, when the Daffodil or Lent Lily always blooms. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and Palm Sunday. It marks the mid point of a traditionally notable practice (fasting) in the observation of Lent.
Also in tradition, March is associated with games that may bring back fond memories of childhood. There was a time as children when we played outside all day. Boys would play marbles and girls jumped rope on the play ground or vacant lot next door. These are just some of the traditions that fill the month of March and make it a wonderful time of year.

Spring Cleaning By Mark E. Daniells Looking back through history, spring has always been a time for cleaning. There are several suggested origins for Spring Cleaning based on religious practices. One of these is traced to the Jewish celebration of Pesach or Passover, which occurs in March or April each year. Other origins are the IranianNorouz, the Persian New Year and several others from western cultures as well. However, they only reference the cleaning of a person's domicile and overlook the most important home of all, our bodies. The proverb "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" originally found in ancient Babylonian and Hebrew religious text is still invoked to this day, often as an admonition to wash or clean up. Many are now realizing that the whole meaning to this half truth was lost or distorted to only reflect upon the outer cleanliness of our bodies and not the inner as well. Most of us have also heard the proverb; "The body is thy temple" and people are now beginning to realize, once again, the profound meaning behind this statement. In modern society it appears that we're influenced to do everything in excess; from super size meals to super size wheels. Everything we do is always more, never less. Point is; we unconsciously accumulate more and more toxic waste in our bodies and the planet, due to our unnatural and excessive way of life. It's not enough that we've created an ocean of toxins we pump into our bodies, but we also do it so excessively that we're literally swimming in them externally as well. It's a small wonder we seem to be suffering from more and more diseases with each passing day. However, there is a growing movement going on that is rediscovering the true meaning behind the wisdom of the old world proverbs. In a previous article I wrote about the "Cause and effect of disease", stating that it's what we think to do in every moment of our lives "Cause" that ultimately manifests in our bodies and world resulting as the "Effect". This is what we experience as stress, turmoil, sickness, disease and ultimately death, due to the self destructive behavior we're not conscious of. Hippocrates stated; everything in access is opposed to nature.DaVinci wrote; vitality and beauty are gifts of nature for those who live according to its laws. Awareness of natural or (universal) law only scratches the surface of what is ultimately the truth about our nature and its power we lost sight of. There is an alarming term from the American Medical Association; Death, due to natural causes. Did you know that the (AMA) considers death due to heart disease, cancer, diabetes and a long list of other diseases as natural? This is disturbing when one comes to the realization that there is very little natural about our current way of life and nothing natural about "dis-ease", which in reality is the (effect). Once again, the effect is the aftermath of our unconscious actions that often lead to the afflictions we suffer. So instead of dealing with the symptoms of disease (effect), we should be addressing the (cause) that prevents them. Thus, the famous words by Benjamin Franklin; "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". How many times have we heard this, but just let it go over our heads? Hopefully, this will be the last time. At this point, it should be acknowledged that there are many who have not yet realized the origin of our diseases and don't understand why they exist or where they came from. Many believe diseases are just a part of life; this couldn't be further from the truth. If there were only one truth that stands absolute about life, it would be that disease and death have nothing to do with life at all. There are many who question and are dumbfounded as to why a child is born with a disease or someone appearing to be in perfect health suddenly contract a chronic or fatal disease. This is a very deep metaphysical subject, too in-depth for this article. However, the hard to accept truth is; we've unconsciously created diseases and placed them within our lineage since the time we tripped over our fat heads and fell flat on our face. |
That said; humanity has much renunciation or corrective work to do to get back to the place it's said we fell from long ago. However, once we remember and reclaim the power we've held over our heads, the work becomes an effortless labor of love. Cleansing oneself is the first place to start and there are several internal physical cleanses to consider; fasting, water fasting, juice fasting, liver/gallbladder, heavy metal and one Hippocrates knew the importance of very well; the Colon. Though all these cleanses are good practices, the colon is the starting place for cleansing the physical body, which is a requisite for the other (Ethereal); the cleansing of our psychological, emotional and spiritual body's. All woven together they make the whole of our being.
As mentioned in a previous article; it is a scientific fact that the bowel feeds every organ of the body, every tissue and every cell. When the bowel function becomes contaminated with the accumulation of toxins and all forms of encrusted fecal matter, the blood cells and organs of the entire body become contaminated to reflect that same condition. This brings a whole new meaning to the off color metaphor; "you're full of s*it". It is this, along with other elements of toxic accumulation that is responsible for the biggest problem we face today; our many diseases. Reflect on this and consider the aforementioned regarding how everything we do is always in excess and then it's easy to see why there are always more diseases, in their many forms that we have to deal with.
It is truly perplexing that as a race we've forgotten two of the most crucial components to optimal health and longevity. 1. The awareness to focus on the cause, which eliminates the effect and 2. The practice of cleansing. Most of us wouldn't think of starting our day without showering our bodies clean of the accumulations acquired from the day before, but we seldom consider cleansing our bodies of the harmful accumulations we've acquired internally since birth; this applies to the ethereal as well.
Spring is traditionally a good time for cleansing and in conclusion I would like to share with you the wise words of a very close friend of mine whose wisdom can not be contradicted.
Think not that it is sufficient that the angel of water embrace you outward only. I tell you truly, the uncleanness within are greater by much than the uncleanness without. And he who cleanses himself without, but within remains unclean, is like two tombs that outward are painted fair, but within full of all manner of horrible uncleanly nesses and abominations.

Case and Point for Conscious Eating
In a recent article published on prevention.com lies the traditionally authoritative evidence that reaffirms the truth about food being our medicine. It is so refreshing to see medical practitioners advocating the power of food as medicine, opposed to pharmaceutical drugs; we thought it well worth passing along to our readers.
The single most important step you can take for heart and overall health starts with what you put on your plate.
By Anne Underwood; prevention.com
With heart disease the number one killer of both men and women in this country, you would think a cure that could dramatically reduce these deaths would be big news. And yet the most effective remedy is so simple that most people can't seem to believe it works. "In traditional societies, where people don't eat processed foods, heart disease is rare," says cardiologist Arthur Agatston, MD, author of The South Beach Wake-Up Call. "If you start with a healthy diet in childhood, heart attacks are almost completely preventable."
Studies have shown that up to 70% of heart disease can be averted with the right regimen, according to Walter Willett, MD, chair of nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health. But is diet alone as powerful as drugs? "Oh, no, it's much more powerful," says Dr. Willett. "Statins, the most effective single medications for reducing heart disease, only cut risk by 25 to 30%."
In fact, you would need a cabinet full of prescription drugs to bestow all the benefits of a serious heart-healthy meal plan. There's nothing a drug can do for your heart health that foods can't do, too.
Hippocrates understood the concept more than 2,000 years ago: "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food."
Diet can be so effective that the British Medical Journal published a paper suggesting that doctors shelve the idea of developing a combination drug with multiple heart meds in it-the Polypill, as it's come to be known. Instead they recommended a Polymeal-a "tastier and safer alternative" that would include wine, fish dark chocolate, garlic, almonds, and heaping servings of fruits and vegetables. "But the longer you wait, the more likely you'll need drugs," warns Dr. Agatston.
In that spirit, here are healthy diet features requiring a broad range of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes-not just a select few. So while you're shopping for kale, don't neglect Swiss chard, arugula, spinach and dandelion greens. An orange is great, but so are berries, apples, bananas, and kiwifruit. The lists of healthy options are endless.

Advertorial for Elixir MRE
|
Tom Gainelli, founder/CEO of Elixir MRE, a raw vegan athlete and author of AMERI-VEGAN gives us his view on his flagship product, Elixir MRE meal replacement.
In the pre-Elixir MRE world there was a need for a complete organic raw vegan meal. The need for a powerful product that had vegan values and quality ingredients was obvious.
To achieve the performance results I desired, I needed a better source of nutrition having an abundance of protein that could be assimilated completely. The market place was void of a complete product for my needs. I had to combine items to keep pace with my athletic pursuits. I wanted a product that met my standards as an athlete and a vegan. I was determined to create the best raw organic vegan meal replacement ever. The raw vegan diet is a fast growing health movement for good reason and I believe Elixir MRE sets the standard for nourishing this non-commercial grass roots movement.
Elixir MRE is a whole food meal replacement designed to increase the body's ability to assimilate foods while supplying digestive enzymes from the most nutrient rich plant based sources. Though it increases the much needed nutrient levels required for athletic performance, it also provides health benefits for ailments such as; diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, intestinal disorders, high cholesterol, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
I originally designed Elixir MRE to provide a complete meal for serious athletes that can't afford to fail meeting their goals while living a busy lifestyle. It optimizes nutrition, aids in digestion and prevents muscle cramping while increasing muscle definition, strength and endurance. However, it is exceptionally good nutrition for health minded people on a plant based diet or those seeking to transition into one.
I can't think of anyone that won't enjoy or benefit from Elixir MRE. It tastes great and is packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, EFA's and rich in fiber. Simply put; its health and performance for life on the go. I like to put one scoop in a blender with fresh orange juice, a banana and I'm good to go.
All the best,
Tom Gainelli
